Mark Jones – In His Dust

April ‘09

• My support is at the lowest it’s ever been. I’m not going to be able to make it to the end of the month even living as cheaply as possible. Pray that God continues to provide.
• I’ve just finished my internship at Re:Hope, although I’ll still be working as a full time missionary in Glasgow for the next few months. Pray that God is clear in what to do next.
• Pray for Re:Hope, that we continue to grow. In particular, for a few older mature Christians to help lead the ‘young ones’ to commit themselves to the church.
• I have several friends who are going through trying/difficult times at the moment, and to be completely honest, I can’t deal with all of them otherwise I’ll burn out. Pray for Strength on their part.

December 08

• Re:Hope – Pray for the church as the building comes up for sale again, that God would intervene according to His will, and FOR His name’s sake.
• Bible – Pray that the people of Re:Hope (and me) would become a people fully submerged in the word of God – that we would become people of the word.
• Internship – Pray as I continue to grow, sometimes faster than I would think possible – especially in the area of leadership and as I ‘deal’ with aspects of my character which God has highlighted and that need to change.
• Praise – Praise God for what He’s doing, for His intervention, for what He’s doing in my life and the people around me. Praise God for the support which HE provides through my patient (I sometimes don’t update them as regularly as I should) supporters.
• Support – Money is tight. I’m Pretty much only just managing to get by every month. Prayer support is the main thing – I NEED people praying for my growth, and what I’m doing here. Financially – Last month even affording food become a problem.

September 08

• Bible – Pray that a desire/love for the word infects the whole of the church in Scotland. If we were to become a people completely submerged in the word of God, there would be drastic change in Scotland.
• Freshers week – Freshers week is pretty soon. Pray for our outreach during freshers week, and for the students who’ll be moving up to Glasgow for the first time.
• Me – Support, Rest, My ministry and witness.
• Re:Hope – Our new kids ministry is about to start (as soon as the construction work is finished).

August 08

• Support – Soon (September) my living situation changes, and I’m going to be stretched a lot more financially. In other words, I’ll be eating an awful lot of spaghetti. Prayerfully consider supporting me financially, and/or pray for my financial situation – that I get the support I need in order to continue what I’m doing.
• Re:Youth – We’re in the planning stages of our Youth project which is going to take the form of Youth outreach – doing street work on a friday night, building relationships with the young people, and long term opening a drop in. I’m taking a lead role in this, and hope to use my experience from working in the council Youth Services. Pray for an effective ministry, and… the list is endless…
• Re:Hope – We’re still growing. Even through the summer. Pray for us as a church – that we continue to grow – especially in our relationship with God. Pray for the building which isn’t actually ours yet – but we believe it’s where God wants us to be. Pray for the couple who own the building, but who are going through divorce – pray their marriage is saved, that they come to know Jesus, and that they… give us the building… .
• Sleep – My sleeping is messed up. It seems when I’m most tired and most need sleep, I somehow don’t get it. I’ve had a few nights of Insomnia, and more than a few nightmares. This is effecting my work, as you would expect… so pray I get the rest I need in order to be effective at what I’m doing – without being grumpy.
• THANKSGIVING – this should have been my first point. Thank God for what he’s doing in Re:Hope, and in me. Thank Him for growing me. Thank Him for the support He’s providing me. Thank Him for saving me. Praise Him for knowing me better than I know myself, and leading me in my walk with Him.

July 08

• Praise – Poland rocked! God was clearly at work during the week in the lives of the young people. Continue to pray for the young people, and what Donna and Arek (the OM missionaries out there) are doing.
• Young people – I’m beginning to plan/organise youth outreach with a couple of people from Re:Hope. Pray for our hearts to be burdened with a love for the young people that we end up working with. I feel like it’s going to be a lot of hard work.
• Support – Right now support is fine. BUT, as I move out of my free accommodation with Tony, to my accommodation with Stuart Duncan… finances are going to become a problem. Prayerfully consider supporting me in my work for Re:Hope.
• Re:Hope – We’re still down some staff members. But we’re busier than we expected – with a bunch of new people coming along. Pray for the staff in general, and for the church growth.

May/June 08

• Support – Support is coming in! It’s quite overwhelming actually. But I’m still not where I’d like and require to be. Pray that God would provide the funding I need in order to work with Re:Hope.
• Missions Trip – I’m going to Poland again this year on Mission. We’re having one more fund raiser before we fly out on 20th June. Pray for safety, the kids we’ll be ministering to – that they would encounter Jesus, etc.
• Re:Hope – Pray for Re:Hope as a lot of the staff go back home at different points throughout the summer. This means that at some points we’ll be running the church with only a couple of staff. Pray that this goes smoothly.
• Young people – There’s a bunch of young people who hang out at the back of the church every now and again. They drink HUGE amounts of alcohol, even on school nights. This is an ideal opportunity to minister to them – although the alcohol causes problems with communication. Pray for opportunity to witness to them.
